

# File transfer support in the WorkSpaces client applications
Using file transfer

You can upload and download files on local computer and your **My Storage** folder if your WorkSpaces administrator has enabled file transfer.

You can do the following with your **My Storage** folder:
+ Open and edit files and folders that you store in your **My Storage** folder.
+ Upload and download files between your local computer and your **My Storage** folder.
**Note**  
If you're unable to do this, contact your WorkSpaces administrator to enable file transfer within your WorkSpaces session.
+ Rename the files or folders in the **My Storage** folder.

**Note**  
File transfer is currently supported on personal Windows WorkSpaces when using the Windows or Linux client application, or web access. Contact your administrator if you have questions.

**To upload and download files between your local computer and your **My Storage** folder**

1. In the Amazon WorkSpaces client application, in the menu bar, choose **File Transfer**. A **My Storage** window will appear.

1. Navigate to an existing folder or choose **Add Folder** to create a new folder. 

1. To upload a file to the folder, choose **Upload File**, select the file that you want to upload, and choose **Open**.

   To download a file from the folder, click on the file that you want to download, or choose the down arrow to the right of the file name and choose **Download**.
