# TagResource


Creates tag for a resource by specifying the ARN.

## Request Syntax


```
POST /tags/resourceArn HTTP/1.1
Content-type: application/json

{
   "tags": { 
      "string" : "string" 
   }
}
```

## URI Request Parameters


The request uses the following URI parameters.

 ** [resourceArn](#API_TagResource_RequestSyntax) **   <a name="ssmsap-TagResource-request-uri-resourceArn"></a>
The Amazon Resource Name (ARN) of the resource.  
Pattern: `arn:(.+:){2,4}.+$|^arn:(.+:){1,3}.+\/.+`   
Required: Yes

## Request Body


The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

 ** [tags](#API_TagResource_RequestSyntax) **   <a name="ssmsap-TagResource-request-tags"></a>
The tags on a resource.  
Type: String to string map  
Key Pattern: `(?!aws:)[a-zA-Z+-=._:/]+`   
Value Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 256.  
Required: Yes

## Response Syntax

HTTP/1.1 200
```

## Response Elements


If the action is successful, the service sends back an HTTP 200 response with an empty HTTP body.

A conflict has occurred.  
HTTP Status Code: 409

 ** ResourceNotFoundException **   
The resource is not available.  
HTTP Status Code: 404

The input fails to satisfy the constraints specified by an AWS service.   
HTTP Status Code: 400
