# UpdateConnection

Modifies an existing connection. Currently we support modifications to the connection's description and/or bandwidth.

## Request Parameters
<a name="API_UpdateConnection_RequestParameters"></a>

 ** bandwidth **   
Request a new bandwidth size on the given [Connection](API_Connection.md).  
Note that changes to the size may be subject to additional policy, and does require the remote partner provider to acknowledge and permit this new bandwidth size.  
Type: String  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 8.  
Pattern: `\d+[MG]bps`   
Required: No

 ** clientToken **   
Idempotency token used for the request.  
Type: String  
Required: No

 ** description **   
An updated description to apply to the [Connection](API_Connection.md)   
Type: String  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 255.  
Pattern: `[-a-zA-Z0-9_ ]+`   
Required: No

 ** identifier **   
The identifier of the [Connection](API_Connection.md) that should be updated.  
Type: String  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 32.  
Pattern: `(mcc|lmcc)-[a-z0-9]{8}`   
Required: Yes

## Response Elements

The following element is returned by the service.

 ** connection **   
The resulting updated [Connection](API_Connection.md)   
Type: [Connection](API_Connection.md) object

## Errors

 ** AccessDeniedException **   
The calling principal is not allowed to access the specified resource, or the resource does not exist.  
HTTP Status Code: 403

 ** InterconnectClientException **   
The request was denied due to incorrect client supplied parameters.  
HTTP Status Code: 400

 ** InterconnectServerException **   
The request resulted in an exception internal to the service.  
HTTP Status Code: 500

 ** InterconnectValidationException **   
The input fails to satisfy the constraints specified.  
HTTP Status Code: 400

 ** ResourceNotFoundException **   
The request specifies a resource that does not exist on the server.  
HTTP Status Code: 404

 ** ServiceQuotaExceededException **   
The requested operation would result in the calling principal exceeding their allotted quota.  
HTTP Status Code: 402

 ** ThrottlingException **   
The request was denied due to request throttling.  
HTTP Status Code: 429
