# Getting started as an AWS Marketplace seller
<a name="user-guide-for-sellers"></a>

If you are an independent software vendor (ISV), channel partner, managed services provider (MSP), or individual who has something to offer that works with AWS products and services, you can register as a seller on AWS Marketplace. Registering as a seller is a prerequisite for publishing products for sale on AWS Marketplace. Based on where you reside and what type of products you're selling, AWS Marketplace has different registration requirements. The following sections provide you with an overview of the seller registration process, requirements, and related tools.

To sell your software in AWS Marketplace, follow these steps:
+ Review [seller requirements for free products](#seller-requirements-for-publishing-free-products) and [requirements for paid products](#additional-seller-requirements-for-paid-products).
+ Complete the [seller registration process](seller-account-registering.md).
+ Learn more about [next steps](seller-account-registering.md) and [seller tools](additional-seller-tools.md).

**Notes**
Registering as an AWS Marketplace seller is a prerequisite to listing data products on AWS Data Exchange and making them available on AWS Marketplace. For more information about these requirements, see [Providing Data Products on AWS Data Exchange](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/data-exchange/latest/userguide/providing-data-sets.html) in the *AWS Data Exchange User Guide*.
For information about the permissions that AWS Marketplace sellers need, see [Policies and permissions for AWS Marketplace sellers](detailed-management-portal-permissions.md).
For more information about product listing fees, registered sellers can view the [AWS Marketplace Seller Terms](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/seller-settings/terms) in the AWS Marketplace Management Portal.
For answers to frequently asked questions, refer to the [AWS Marketplace Sellers FAQ](https://d1.awsstatic.com/awsmp/solutions/aws-seller-faq.pdf).

## Seller requirements for publishing free software products
<a name="seller-requirements-for-publishing-free-products"></a>

Regardless of whether you charge for your product when you offer it in AWS Marketplace, you're selling that product. The cost to the customer is \$10.00, but you and the customer agree to a mutual contract for use of the product. If you offer only free products, you don't have to provide banking information to AWS Marketplace.

To create and offer free products in AWS Marketplace, you must:
+  Sell publicly available, full-feature production-ready software.
+ Have a defined customer support process and support organization.
+ Provide a means to keep software regularly updated and free of vulnerabilities.
+ Follow best practices and guidelines when marketing your product in AWS Marketplace.
+ Be an AWS customer in good standing and meet the requirements in the terms and conditions for AWS Marketplace sellers.

## Additional seller requirements for paid products
<a name="additional-seller-requirements-for-paid-products"></a>

If you charge for your products or offer Bring Your Own License model (BYOL) products, you must also meet the following requirements and provide this additional information:
+ You must be a permanent resident or citizen in an [eligible jurisdiction](seller-eligibility.md#eligible-jurisdictions), or a business entity organized or incorporated in one of those areas.
+ You must provide tax and bank account information. For US-based entities, a W-9 form and a banking account from a US-based bank are required. You must associate your bank account information with a [disbursement preference](set-disbursement-preferences.md) to create any public or private offers.
+ Non-US sellers are required to provide a (i) W-8 form, value-added tax (VAT) or goods and services tax (GST) registration number, and (ii) bank account with a SWIFT code in an eligible jurisdiction. If necessary, you can register for a virtual US bank account from [Hyperwallet](https://wssellers.hyperwallet.com/).
**Note**
This requirement does not apply to India-based sellers. For more information, see [Getting started as a seller in India](getting-started-seller-india.md).
+ To provide data products, you must also request on-boarding through the [Create case](https://console.aws.amazon.com/support/cases?#/create?issueType=customer-service) wizard for Support.
+ To sell products to customers whose AWS accounts are based in countries and territories in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) (excluding Turkey and South Africa) through Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, you must [complete the **Know Your Customer** process](complete-kyc-process.md). In addition:
  + You receive up to two disbursements (for transactions through AWS Inc. and Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL).
  + You may be taxed on the listing fee for certain transactions, depending on location. For more information about taxes, see the [AWS Marketplace Sellers Tax](https://aws.amazon.com/tax-help/marketplace/) help page. If value-added tax (VAT) on your listing fee is assessed, AWS Marketplace will provide a tax-compliant invoice.
  + For more information about Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, see *AWS EMEA Marketplace - Sellers* on the [Amazon Web Services Europe FAQs](https://aws.amazon.com/legal/aws-emea/) website.

 To sell into the AWS GovCloud (US) Region, sellers must have an [AWS GovCloud (US) account](https://aws.amazon.com/govcloud-us/getting-started/). For details on ITAR requirements, see the *[AWS GovCloud (US) User Guide](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/govcloud-us/latest/UserGuide/getting-started-sign-up.html)*.

 For questions about AWS Marketplace seller requirements or the registration process, contact the [AWS Marketplace Seller Operations](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/contact-us/) team.

## AWS Marketplace Management Portal
<a name="aws-marketplace-management-portal"></a>

You can use the [AWS Marketplace Management Portal](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/tour) to manage the products that you sell in AWS Marketplace. All registered sellers can access the AWS Marketplace Management Portal using their AWS credentials for the account that they used to create their products. The account that you use is defined as the seller of record when a customer subscribes to your product. If you need help determining the specific account that is the seller of record for your products, contact the [AWS Marketplace Seller Operations](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/contact-us/) team.

You can complete the following tasks on the portal:
+ Register as an AWS Marketplace seller.
+ Use the **Products** page to submit new software products and update existing software products.
+ Monitor the status of your requests.
+ Upload files needed to create and manage your new software products.
+ Manage your software products into incremental channel revenue by taking advantage of the go-to-market activities.
+ Measure the results of your marketing efforts within hours of launch, including the usage and revenue driven by your campaigns.
+ Enable customer service representatives to retrieve customer data in real time.
+ Initiate an automatic Amazon Machine Image (AMI) scan to detect vulnerabilities.

**Note**
Data products are published and managed from the AWS Data Exchange console. AWS Data Exchange providers can use the AWS Marketplace Management Portal to register as a seller, request AWS Data Exchange on-boarding, access seller reports, and submit refund requests.

# Understanding listing fees for AWS Marketplace sellers
<a name="listing-fees"></a>

AWS Marketplace offers standard and regional listing fees for AWS Marketplace sellers. Listing fees appear as a single line item in the listing fee invoice issued by AWS. The fee is calculated based on the pre-tax Total Contract Value (TCV). This applies to all uplifts, including [Regional offer listing fees](#regional-offer-listing-fees).

**Sellers in India**
Sellers in India have specific listing fee structures with GST applied and automatic deductions from disbursements. For detailed information, see [Sellers in India FAQ](india-seller-faq.md).

**Note**
These listing fees are effective as of January 5, 2024 at midnight UTC.

## Understanding fees for standard offer listings in AWS Marketplace
<a name="standard-offer-listing-fees"></a>

Learn about listing fees for standard public offers, private offers, channel partner private offers (CPPOs), and professional services. AWS Marketplace offers the following listing fees for products.

**Public offer listing fees**

Listing fees for software and data public offers are determined by the deployment method:
+ Software-as-a-service (SaaS) – 3%
+ Server (Amazon Machine Image (AMI), container, and machine learning) – 20%
+ AWS Data Exchange – 3%

**Private offer listing fees**

Listing fees for private offers are determined by the total contract value and whether the private offer is renewed from a previous private offer or a previous agreement outside of AWS Marketplace:
+ Less than \$11M – 3%
+ Between \$11M and less than \$110M – 2%
+ Equal to or greater than \$110M – 1.5%
+ All renewals – 1.5%

**Channel partner private offer (CPPO) listing fees**

CPPO products have a .5% uplift on the listing fee, regardless of the offer type or deployment method. For example, if the product is a SaaS private offer with a total contract value of less than \$11M, the listing fee would be 3.5%.

**Professional services listing fees**

All professional service offerings have a 2.5% listing fee for private offers.

## Understanding fees for regional offer listings in AWS Marketplace
<a name="regional-offer-listing-fees"></a>

An additional regional listing fee will be applied to the standard listing fees for your transactions with buyers in the following jurisdiction(s).

**Note**
Regional listing fees are additive with the standard listing fee. For example, if the product is a SaaS private offer with a total contract value of less than \$11M sold to a buyer in South Korea, the listing fee would be 4% (3% standard private offer listing fees plus a 1% regional listing fee).

| Region | Additional region listing fee | Effective date |
| --- | --- | --- |
| South Korea | 1% | 04/01/2025 |

# Getting started as a seller in India
<a name="getting-started-seller-india"></a>

AWS Marketplace allows sellers in India to sell paid offers to buyers in India (user agreement is with Amazon Web Services India Private Limited (Amazon India) refer [here](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/accounts/latest/reference/managing-accounts-india.html)). Buyers can procure software and services from sellers in India and receive invoices from AWS India in Indian rupees (INR).

## Key benefits
<a name="india-seller-key-benefits"></a>
+ Sellers in India can sell paid offers on AWS Marketplace and receive disbursements to bank accounts in India in Indian rupees (INR).
+ Buyers are invoiced in Indian rupees (INR) and invoices include Goods and Service Tax (GST), as applicable.
+ AWS India facilitates issuance of tax-compliant invoices to AWS customers in INR with you as Seller of Record (SoR), based on information provided in the tax registration tab in AWS Marketplace Management Portal.

## Important considerations
<a name="india-seller-considerations"></a>
+ If you are a seller based outside India, your sales to buyers in India remain in USD via AWS Inc.
+ If you are selling using an account that is part of AWS Organizations, you must use a separate (standalone) account to sell in India to avoid taxation errors.
+ Private offers for Container products with contract with consumption pricing and usage-based pricing remain in USD.

## Registration process for sellers in India
<a name="india-seller-registration-process"></a>

Follow these steps to register as a seller in India:

### Step 1: Create a new standalone AWS account
<a name="india-seller-step-1"></a>

Create a new AWS India account ID. This account should be a standalone account and not a linked account in your AWS Organizations.

**Important**
Using a linked account may lead to incorrect and non-compliant tax invoices.

### Step 2: Complete seller registration on AWS Marketplace Management Portal
<a name="india-seller-step-2"></a>

Once you create a new AWS account, use that account to create an AWS Marketplace seller account.

1. Register as a seller on AWS Marketplace Management Portal.

1. Provide a unique legal business name. This name is used on tax invoices.

1. Create your public profile as described in [Step 1: Register and create your seller profile](create-public-profile.md).

### Step 3: Provide tax information
<a name="india-seller-step-3"></a>

**Note**
Under applicable tax regulations, there is a relaxation from affixing signatures on invoices for B2B transactions that are subject to e-invoicing. While we expect that most sellers will transact primarily with business customers, the classification of a transaction as B2B or B2C depends on whether the customer has provided valid GST details in their AWS India profile. If GST details are provided, the transaction is treated as B2B. If GST details aren't provided, the transaction is treated as B2C. In such cases, a tax invoice must include the seller's signature. Without this, the invoice is treated as non-compliant. To ensure compliance, we require a specimen signature of your authorized signatory. This allows us to print the signature on invoices generated in your name. The specimen signature you provide is used solely for the limited purpose of generating invoices on your behalf. Consistent with the [AWS Privacy Notice](https://aws.amazon.com/privacy/), we apply strict purpose-limitation principles and maintain robust safeguards to protect your personal information. We remain committed to handling your data securely and in accordance with applicable laws.

After you complete your public profile, your account is verified by the AWS Marketplace operations team. You then receive an email from AWS to proceed with tax verification on AWS Marketplace Management Portal.

You must submit the following information before you can start listing your offers:

1. GST identification number (GSTIN)

1. Permanent Account Number (PAN) - auto-populated from the GSTIN you provided

1. Seller signature that is used on tax invoices for your buyers - submit a ticket using the contact us form to submit signature

1. Legal business name and address that corresponds to your GSTIN for tax purposes

1. Acknowledgements on: (a) non-applicability of Withholding Tax (WHT) on listing fees; (b) confirmation that your GSTIN is enabled for e-invoicing; (c) authorization to AWS India to raise invoices (e-invoices to GST registered buyers) for sales made by you through AWS Marketplace, along with a declaration that you are responsible for remitting the applicable GST to the Government

### Step 4: Provide bank account information
<a name="india-seller-step-4"></a>

After your tax information is completed and seller signature is verified, you can provide your bank account information.

Your bank account information must include:
+ Account number
+ Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) number
+ Full name and address associated with the account

### Step 5: Add disbursement method
<a name="india-seller-step-5"></a>

After you provide banking information, navigate to Payment information menu, find Disbursement methods and choose Add disbursement method.

1. Select the disbursement currency from Currency dropdown and select the appropriate bank account for INR.

1. Sellers in India can only receive disbursements in INR.

1. Choose to receive disbursements either monthly or daily.

1. You can only associate INR currency to one bank account, but you can switch association to a different bank account.

1. All disbursements are sent through applicable clearance and settlement systems (NEFT/RTGS) to your designated bank account.

**Note**
Public offers remain in USD. You do not need to add USD as a disbursement method because you cannot receive disbursements in USD.

### Step 6: Create offers
<a name="india-seller-step-6"></a>

**Note**
Sellers in India can sell public and private offers to buyers in India only. Even if you target countries other than India or send private offers to buyers outside India, buyers outside India cannot subscribe to those offers.

After you provide banking information and configure disbursement preferences, you can create private offers in USD or INR. Private offers can be created only after you create a product listing. For more information, see [Preparing your product for AWS Marketplace](product-preparation.md).

Important considerations:
+ AWS Marketplace product listings are always in USD. However, INR option is available when creating private offers.
+ Product title should be suffixed with `[IN]`.

#### Creating direct private offers
<a name="india-seller-direct-private-offers"></a>

1. From the Offers menu in AWS Marketplace Management Portal, choose Create private offer.

1. Select Direct private offer, product type, and your product.

1. At offer creation step 2 (set offer duration and prices), select the currency from the dropdown.

1. Enter all details, review the offer, and choose Create private offer.

#### Creating Channel Partner Private Offers
<a name="india-seller-channel-partner-offers"></a>

As an ISV or DSOR partner, you must first create a resale authorization.

**For ISVs or CP accounts that will be participating in the CPPO process:** Before you initiate an offer, complete a mandatory one-time step of creating a selling authorization Service-Linked Role (SLR). To do this, log into AWS Marketplace Management Portal with your AWS Marketplace seller account. Navigate to the **Settings** tab, then choose **Service linked roles**, then choose **Create service-linked role**. The SLR is required for ISVs, DSORs and CPs to create and accept selling authorizations.

1. From the Partners menu in AWS Marketplace Management Portal, choose Create opportunity.

1. Under Discounts and Products, select the discount type and your product for resale.

1. Select currency from the dropdown.

1. Enter all details, review the authorization, and choose Create opportunity.

**Note**
Sellers in India and DSORs can only send resale authorizations to channel partners in India. If you issue a resale authorization to a channel partner based outside India, the resale authorization fails. Your channel partner can only create CPPO in the same currency and can extend CPPOs to buyers in India only.

## Do I need a separate AWS account to sell in India?
<a name="india-seller-separate-account"></a>

Yes. You must create a standalone AWS account that is not part of AWS Organizations. This account must be specifically configured for selling in India and cannot be used to sell to buyers outside India. You cannot use an existing buyer account for seller registration.

## What information do I need to provide for seller registration?
<a name="india-seller-registration-requirements"></a>

You must submit: GST identification number (GSTIN), Permanent Account Number (PAN) which auto-populates from GSTIN, seller signature for tax invoices, legal business name and address corresponding to your GSTIN, acknowledgements on withholding tax non-applicability and e-invoicing enablement, authorization for AWS India to raise invoices, and valid India domiciled bank account details.

## How do I get support and assistance as a seller in India?
<a name="india-seller-support"></a>

Use the Contact Us form in AWS Marketplace Management Portal:

1. For banking or disbursement assistance, select Commercial Marketplace, then Seller Account, then Banking.

1. For private offer creation help, select Commercial Marketplace, then Private Offer, then Offer Creation.

1. For India-specific questions about tax obligations, banking, or regulatory requirements, consult with local advisors familiar with regulations in India.

1. Provide detailed information about your specific request for faster resolution.

## Can I sell to buyers outside of India as a seller in India?
<a name="india-seller-geographic-restrictions"></a>

No. Sellers in India can only sell to buyers in India. Buyers outside India can view your listings but cannot purchase them due to geographic restrictions.

## What currencies can I use for pricing my products?
<a name="india-seller-pricing-currency"></a>

All public offers must be priced in USD only. You have the option to publish private offers in INR or USD. However, listing fees are always deducted in INR and all disbursements are always in INR regardless of your pricing currency. There is no currency conversion or exchange rate variability for INR-priced private offers.

## What product types can I create offers for?
<a name="india-seller-product-types"></a>

You can create products and offers for SaaS, AMI, Containers, Professional Services, ML and AWS Data Exchange product types.

## How do product pricing currency and seller disbursements work in detail?
<a name="india-seller-pricing-disbursement-details"></a>

For USD offers: Buyers receive invoices with USD pricing, applicable GST, and foreign exchange conversion rate to INR. The tax invoice uses the same rate as the commercial invoice. Your disbursement in INR equals the converted amount minus withholding tax (0.1%), TCS (0.5%), listing fees, and tax on listing fees. For INR private offers: Buyers receive invoices with the agreed INR amount without foreign exchange variability. Invoices show both INR and USD amounts with the fixed FX rate applied at offer acceptance. Minor rounding differences (maximum ±0.005 USD per line item) may occur due to backend USD processing.

## What are my GST tax obligations and liability as a seller in India?
<a name="india-seller-tax-obligations"></a>

Buyers are charged 18% GST which is paid to you as part of your disbursement, and you are responsible for remitting GST to tax authorities in India according to applicable tax laws. AWS India facilitates issuing GST tax invoices to buyers with you as the seller on record (SoR) and shares the tax invoice with you via email for your records and compliance purposes. You must ensure your GSTIN is enabled for e-invoicing and comply with all applicable tax laws in India including GST registration and filing requirements.

## What banking information do I need to provide?
<a name="india-seller-banking-requirements"></a>

You must provide bank account details in India including account number, Indian Financial System Code (IFSC), and name and address of the account holder. Only bank accounts domiciled in India are accepted for sellers in India. International bank accounts are not accepted. All disbursements are processed in INR to your bank account in India only.

## How are AWS Marketplace listing fees handled for sellers in India?
<a name="india-seller-listing-fees"></a>

The fee structure follows standard AWS Marketplace rates, but all fees are calculated and charged in Indian Rupees (INR) with 18% GST applicable. AWS Marketplace provides a GST tax invoice for listing fees. Both listing fees and GST are deducted from your seller disbursement. You are not required to withhold funds toward listing fees due to TDS exemption under Section 194-O of the Income Tax Act. Refer to the AWS Marketplace Seller Terms for current fee information.

## Do I need to withhold tax on listing fees?
<a name="india-seller-tds-exemption"></a>

No. Per Section 194-O subsection 4 of the Income Tax Act, 1960, once withholding tax is processed at any point in the payment flow, sellers are exempt from Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) withholding on listing fees. AWS deducts TDS from buyer payments and remits to tax authorities. TDS certificates are shared with you for tax claiming purposes.

## When will I receive disbursements?
<a name="india-seller-disbursement-schedule"></a>

Disbursements follow the standard AWS Marketplace schedule but are processed in INR to your bank account in India. The timing and frequency align with standard AWS Marketplace disbursement practices. You can only receive disbursements in Indian Rupees (INR) to your bank account domiciled in India.

## How do I migrate from selling outside India to selling in India?
<a name="india-seller-account-migration"></a>

You have two options:

*Option 1: Create a new standalone account (recommended)*

1. Create a new standalone account for your India-based entity.

1. Re-list your offers and use `[IN]` in listing names to differentiate.

1. Buyers must cancel existing agreements and re-negotiate from your India-based entity.

*Option 2: Change your existing account location to India*

1. Update tax location in AWS Billing Console to India.

1. Ensure no linked accounts or turn off tax inheritance settings.

1. Submit GSTIN, PAN, seller signature, and bank account in India in AWS Marketplace Management Portal.

1. Upon validation, you can start listing on AWS India.

1. You'll lose ability to sell to non-India buyers.

1. Existing non-India disbursements will be blocked.

1. You must cancel all agreements with non-India buyers.

1. Existing contracts with buyers in India will be invoiced in INR from AWS India.

## If I'm already registered as a buyer with AWS India, do I still need to create a separate account for selling?
<a name="india-seller-buyer-account-separation"></a>

Yes. You must create a new standalone AWS Marketplace account for seller registration. This prevents incorrect tax and invoicing treatment for your seller account and avoids complications related to AWS Organizations structure changes.

## What are the restrictions for working with channel partners in India?
<a name="india-seller-channel-partner-restrictions"></a>

You can only work with channel partners located in India due to geographic restrictions. As an India-based channel partner, you can extend Channel Partner Private Offers (CPPO) authorized by India-registered ISVs to India-based buyers only. You cannot extend CPPOs to non-India buyers regardless of ISV location, and cannot extend CPPOs from non-India ISVs to India buyers.

## Can non-India sellers use channel partners in India to sell to buyers in India?
<a name="india-seller-dsor-program"></a>

Yes, through the Designated Seller on Record (DSOR) program. The India-based channel partner lists offerings on behalf of the non-India seller. AWS Marketplace settles with the channel partner, and the non-India seller receives payment directly from the channel partner outside AWS Marketplace. Contact your AWS account representative or AWS Marketplace Seller Operations team for additional details about the DSOR program.

## How do I indicate that my product is available only in India?
<a name="india-seller-product-listing"></a>

Products from sellers in India are automatically restricted to buyers in India. You should include `[IN]` in your product title to clearly indicate availability to buyers in India. The geographic restriction is enforced at the platform level.

## Can I create private offers for buyers in India?
<a name="india-seller-private-offers"></a>

Yes. You can create private offers for buyers in India using the standard private offer process. All private offers are only available to buyers in India and can be priced in either USD or INR.

## What compliance requirements apply to sellers in India?
<a name="india-seller-compliance"></a>

You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in India, including but not limited to tax laws, data protection requirements, and software licensing regulations. AWS provides the platform, but compliance with local laws is your responsibility.

# Accessing product and customer data with the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service
<a name="commerce-analytics-service"></a>

With the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service, you can programmatically access product and customer data through AWS Marketplace. After you enroll in the service, you can access your usage, subscription, and billing reports through the AWS SDKs. The data you request using the SDK tools is delivered to your AWS account as datasets. Most of the datasets correspond to the same data as the text-based reports available on the [AWS Marketplace Management Portal](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/tour). You can request datasets for a specific date, and the data is delivered to the provided Amazon S3 bucket. You receive notification of data delivery through Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS). This topic provides the terms and conditions for using the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service.

The following visualization shows how the Commerce Analytics Service accesses your product and customer data in AWS Marketplace and delivers it as data sets to your Amazon S3 bucket, initiating a notification through Amazon SNS.

# Onboarding to AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service
<a name="on-boarding-guide"></a>

With the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service, you can programmatically access product and customer data through AWS Marketplace. To get started with the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service, you must configure your AWS account and AWS services to use the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service. These sections show you how to configure your AWS account and AWS services to use the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service.

**To use the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service**
+ [Step 1: Set up your AWS account with permissions](#permissions-for-commerce-analytics)
+ [Step 2: Create a destination Amazon S3 bucket](#create-a-destination-amazon-s3-bucket)
+ [Step 3: Configure an Amazon SNS topic for response notifications](#create-an-amazon-sns-topic-for-response-notifications)
+ [Step 4: Enroll in the Commerce Analytics Service program](#enroll-in-the-commerce-analytics-service-program)
+ [Step 5: Verify your configuration](#verify-your-configuration)

## Step 1: Set up your AWS account with permissions
<a name="permissions-for-commerce-analytics"></a>

AWS Marketplace **strongly** recommends using AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles to sign in to the AWS Marketplace Management Portal rather than using your root account credentials. See [Policies and permissions for AWS Marketplace sellers](detailed-management-portal-permissions.md) for specific IAM permissions for AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service permissions. By creating individual users for people accessing your account, you can give each user a unique set of security credentials. You can also grant different permissions to each user. If necessary, you can change or revoke an user's permissions any time.

## Step 2: Create a destination Amazon S3 bucket
<a name="create-a-destination-amazon-s3-bucket"></a>

The Commerce Analytics Service delivers the data you request to an Amazon S3 bucket that you specify. If you already have an Amazon S3 bucket to use, proceed to the next step.

If you don't have an Amazon S3 bucket or you want to create an Amazon S3 bucket specifically for this data, see [How do I Create an Amazon S3 Bucket](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/UG/CreatingaBucket.html).

## Step 3: Configure an Amazon SNS topic for response notifications
<a name="create-an-amazon-sns-topic-for-response-notifications"></a>

The Commerce Analytics Service delivers response notifications using Amazon SNS. The service publishes messages to this topic to notify you when your datasets are available or if an error occurred. If you already have an Amazon SNS topic for this purpose, proceed to the next step.

If you don't have an Amazon SNS topic configured for this service, configure one now. For instructions, see [Create a Topic](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/sns/latest/dg/CreateTopic.html).

Record the topic Amazon Resource Name (ARN) for the topic you created, because the ARN is required to call the service.

## Step 4: Enroll in the Commerce Analytics Service program
<a name="enroll-in-the-commerce-analytics-service-program"></a>

The Commerce Analytics Service accesses the Amazon S3 bucket and Amazon SNS topic after you configure the service with the ARN for the topic and name of the bucket.

**To enable access**

1. Log in to the [AWS Marketplace Management Portal](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/) with the AWS account you use to manage your AWS Marketplace products.

1. Ensure you have the [ necessary IAM permissions](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/marketplace/latest/userguide/commerce-analytics-service.html#technical-implementation-guide) to enroll in the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service.

1. Navigate to the [Commerce Analytics Service enrollment page](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/cas/enroll).

1. Enter the Amazon S3 bucket name and Amazon SNS topic ARN, and choose **Enroll**.

1. On the permissions page, choose **Allow**.

1. On the AWS Marketplace Management Portal, record the **Role Name ARN** in the success message. You need the ARN to call the service.

**Note**
Onboarding to the Commerce Analytics Service creates an IAM role in your AWS account. The IAM role allows AWS Marketplace to write to the Amazon S3 bucket and publish notifications to the Amazon SNS topic. AWS Marketplace uses the account 452565589796 to perform these associated actions with this IAM role.

## Step 5: Verify your configuration
<a name="verify-your-configuration"></a>

The last step is to verify that your configuration works as expected.

**To test your configuration**

1. Download, install, and configure the [AWS Command Line Interface](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/userguide/cli-chap-getting-set-up.html) (AWS CLI).

1. Using the AWS CLI, run this command.

   ```
   aws marketplacecommerceanalytics generate-data-set \
   --data-set-type "customer_subscriber_hourly_monthly_subscriptions" \
   --data-set-publication-date "{TODAY'S-DATE}" \
   --role-name-arn "{YOUR-ROLE-NAME-ARN}" \
   --destination-s3-bucket-name "{amzn-s3-demo-bucket}" \
   --destination-s3-prefix "TEST_PREFIX" \
   --sns-topic-arn "{YOUR-SNS-TOPIC-ARN}"
   ```
+ For `--data-set-publication-date`, replace `{TODAY'S DATE}` with the current date using ISO-8601 format, `YYYY-MM-DDT00:00:00Z`, where `YYYY` is the four-digit year, `MM` is the two-digit month, and `DD` is the two-digit day.
+ For `--role-name-arn`, replace `{YOUR-ROLE-NAME-ARN}` with the ARN of the role you received from the enrollment process in [Step 4: Enroll in the Commerce Analytics Service program](#enroll-in-the-commerce-analytics-service-program).
+ For *--destination-s3-bucket-name*, replace *\$1amzn-s3-demo-bucket\$1* with the name of the Amazon S3 bucket you created in [Step 2: Create a destination Amazon S3 bucket](#create-a-destination-amazon-s3-bucket).
+ For *–sns-topic-arn*, replace *\$1YOUR-SNS-TOPIC-ARN\$1* with the Amazon SNS topic you created in [Step 3: Configure an Amazon SNS topic for response notifications](#create-an-amazon-sns-topic-for-response-notifications).

If you receive a response including the *dataSetRequestId* response from the service, you've completed the on-boarding process. A successful response looks like this:

```
{
   "dataSetRequestId": "646dd4ed-6806-11e5-a6d8-fd5dbcaa74ab"
}
```

# Using the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service with the AWS CLI and AWS SDK for Java

## Making Requests with the AWS CLI
<a name="making-requests-with-aws-cli"></a>

To get started, download the [AWS CLI](https://aws.amazon.com/cli/). The following AWS CLI example makes a request for the **Hourly/Monthly Subscriptions** dataset for October 1, 2017. This dataset is published to the **demo-bucket** Amazon S3 bucket using the prefix **demo-prefix**, and the notification message is delivered to the **demo-topic** Amazon SNS topic.

```
aws marketplacecommerceanalytics generate-data-set \
--data-set-type "customer_subscriber_hourly_monthly_subscriptions" \
--data-set-publication-date "2017-10-01T00:00:00Z" \
--role-name-arn "arn:aws:iam::123412341234:role/MarketplaceCommerceAnalyticsRole" \
--destination-s3-bucket-name "demo-bucket" \
--destination-s3-prefix "demo-prefix" \
--sns-topic-arn "arn:aws:sns:us-west-2:123412341234:demo-topic"
```

 This request returns an identifier that is unique for each request. You can use this identifier to correlate requests with notifications published to your Amazon SNS topic. The following example is an example of this identifier.

```
{
   "dataSetRequestId": "646dd4ed-6806-11e5-a6d8-fd5dbcaa74ab"
}
```

## Making requests with the AWS SDK for Java

# Generating a dataset by using the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service
<a name="technical-documentation"></a>

After you enroll in the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service, you can access your usage, subscription, and billing reports through the AWS CLI and AWS SDK for Java. The data you request using the SDK tools is delivered to your AWS account as datasets. Most of the datasets correspond to the same data as the text-based reports available on the [AWS Marketplace Management Portal](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/tour). For more information, see [Accessing product and customer data with the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service](commerce-analytics-service.md). ## `GenerateDataSet` parameters
<a name="generate-data-set-parameters"></a>

The AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service exposes one method, `GenerateDataSet`, which you can use to request datasets to be published to your Amazon S3 bucket. The following table lists the parameters for `GenerateDataSet`.

**Dataset parameters**

| **Field** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| Data Set Type | This dataset will be returned as the result of the request. |
| Data Set Publication Date | The date a dataset was published. For daily datasets, provide a date with day-level granularity for the desired day. For monthly datasets, provide a date with month-level granularity for the desired month. The day value is ignored. |
| Role Name ARN | The ARN of the role with an attached permissions policy that provides the service with access to your resources. |
| Destination Amazon S3 Bucket Name | The name (the friendly name, not the ARN) of the destination Amazon S3 bucket. Your datasets are published to this location. |
| Destination Amazon S3 Prefix | (Optional) The Amazon S3 prefix for the published dataset, similar to a directory path in standard file systems. For example, if given the bucket name `mybucket` and the prefix `myprefix/mydatasets`, the output file is published to `s3://amzn-s3-demo-bucket/myprefix/mydatasets/outputfile`. If the prefix directory structure doesn't exist, it's created. If no prefix is provided, the dataset is published to the Amazon S3 bucket root. |
| SNS Topic ARN | The ARN for the Amazon SNS topic that is notified when the dataset has been published or if an error occurs. |

## Responses
<a name="responses"></a>

The AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service returns two responses. The first is synchronous, which is returned immediately, and the second is asynchronous, which is returned using the Amazon SNS. The synchronous response is similar to this example.

**Data set parameters**

| **Field** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| Data Set Request ID | A unique identifier representing a specific request to the service. This identifier can be used to correlate a request with notifications on the Amazon SNS topic. |

The asynchronous response is posted as a JSON-formatted document to your Amazon SNS topic and is similar to this example.

**Dataset parameters**

|  **Field**  |  **Description**  |
| --- | --- |
| Data Set S3 Location | The bucket name and key for the delivered dataset. |
| Data Set Meta Data S3 Location | The bucket name and key for the delivered dataset metadata file. |
| Data Set Request ID | A unique identifier representing a specific request to the service. This identifier can be used to correlate a request with notifications on the Amazon SNS topic. |
| Success | "True" if the operation succeeded; "false" if not. |
| Message | (Optional) If an error occurred (for example, "Success” is "false”), this message contains information about the failure. |

 **Example JSON-formatted asynchronous response**

```
 {
   "dataSetS3Location":{
      "bucketName":"demo-bucket",
      "key":"demo-prefix/customer_subscriber_hourly_monthly_subscriptions_2014-06-09.csv"
   },
   "dataSetMetaDataS3Location":{
      "bucketName":"demo-bucket",
      "key":"demo-prefix/customer_subscriber_hourly_monthly_subscriptions_2014-06-09.meta.json"
   },
   "dataSetRequestId":"f65b7244-6862-11e5-80e2-c5127e17c023",
   "success":true
 }
```

## Outputs
<a name="outputs"></a>

After a successful request, the requested dataset is delivered to your Amazon S3 bucket as a .csv file. A JSON-formatted metadata file is published to the same location as the dataset file. The metadata file provides useful information about the dataset and original request parameters. The metadata file has the same name as the dataset file, but ends with the extension .meta.json. The following table lists the metadata fields in the .csv file.

**Metadata fields**

|  **Field**  |  **Description**  |
| --- | --- |
| Data Set Request ID | A unique identifier representing a specific request to the service. This identifier can be used to correlate a request with notifications on the Amazon SNS topic. |
| Data Set Coverage Range | Defines the start date/time and end date/time for the data coverage range. These dates are in ISO 8601 format. |
| Data Set Request Parameters | The original request parameters to the GenerateDataSet method. |
| Data Set S3 Location | The bucket name and key for the delivered dataset. |
| Data Set Meta Data S3 Location | The bucket name and key for the delivered dataset metadata file. |

Following is an example of JSON-formatted metadata contents.

```
{
"dataSetRequestId": "43d7137b-8a94-4042-a09d-c41e87f371c1",
# Troubleshooting the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service
<a name="cas-troubleshooting"></a>
You can troubleshoot issues with the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service, which programmatically provides product and customers data from AWS Marketplace. You might need to troubleshoot the Commerce Analytics Service when you encounter errors or other configuration issues. The following sections guide you through the troubleshooting process, covering steps to diagnose and resolve common problems with the Commerce Analytics Service.
 **I can't access the service because of an allow list issue.**
If you're not yet registered as a seller on the AWS Marketplace, visit [AWS Marketplace Management Portal](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management) to register. If you have already registered as a seller on AWS Marketplace, contact the [https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/contact-us/](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/contact-us/) team.
**I can't request datasets for a date in the past, even though the SDK documentation says it should be available for this date.**
Even though datasets are listed as being available for certain dates in the past, we have data only since the time that you joined AWS Marketplace. If you believe that this is in error, contact the [https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/contact-us/](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/contact-us/) team.
 **When I call the service, I receive the error message "Could not connect to the endpoint URL: https://marketplacecommerceanalytics.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/”**
The AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service is available only in the US East (N. Virginia) Region. You must make all calls to the Commerce Analytics Service to the `us-east-1` endpoint.
If you're using the AWS CLI, add the "`--region` flag to each call and specify the AWS Region as `us-east-1`, as shown in the following example.
```
aws marketplacecommerceanalytics generate-data-set \
--data-set-type "customer_subscriber_hourly_monthly_subscriptions" \
--data-set-publication-date "2016-04-21T00:00:00Z" \
--role-name-arn "arn:aws:iam::138136086619:role/MarketplaceCommerceAnalyticsRole" \
--destination-s3-bucket-name "marketplace-analytics-service" \
--destination-s3-prefix "test-prefix" \
--sns-topic-arn "arn:aws:sns:eu-central-1:138136086619:Marketplace_Analytics_Service_Notice" \
 --region us-east-1
```
 **I want to use a different Amazon S3 bucket or Amazon SNS topic than the ones I selected when I went through the on-boarding process.**
When enrolling in the AWS Marketplace Commerce Analytics Service, you specified an Amazon S3 bucket and Amazon SNS topic. The onboarding process configures your IAM permissions to allow the service access to only these specific resources. To use different resources, you need to modify your IAM policy:
1.
   Sign in to the AWS Management Console and open the IAM console at [https://console.aws.amazon.com/iam/](https://console.aws.amazon.com/iam/).
1.  Choose ** Roles** on the left side of the IAM console.
1.  Choose **MarketplaceCommerceAnalyticsRole**.
1.  Expand the **Inline Roles** section, if not already expanded.
1.  Locate the policy with a name that starts with *oneClick\$1MarketplaceCommerceAnalyticsRole* and choose **Edit Policy**.
1.  In the policy document, locate the section that specifies actions related to the service that you want to modify. For example, to change your Amazon S3 bucket, locate the section that includes the actions that start with **s3:** and change their respective **Resource** selection to specify your new Amazon S3 bucket.
 For additional information about IAM policies, see the following guide: [https://docs.aws.amazon.com/IAM/latest/UserGuide/access\$1policies.html](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/IAM/latest/UserGuide/access_policies.html)
**I get an `AccessDeniedException` error when I call the `GenerateDataSet` action**
This can happen if your user doesn't have the permissions necessary to call `GenerateDataSet`. The following procedure outlines the steps needed to create an IAM policy with those permissions using the IAM console and add the permissions to your users, groups, or roles.
**To use the JSON policy editor to create a policy**
1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console and open the IAM console at [https://console.aws.amazon.com/iam/](https://console.aws.amazon.com/iam/).
1. In the navigation pane on the left, choose **Policies**.
   If this is your first time choosing **Policies**, the **Welcome to Managed Policies** page appears. Choose **Get Started**.
1. At the top of the page, choose **Create policy**.
1. In the **Policy editor** section, choose the **JSON** option.
1. Enter the following JSON policy document:
   ```
   {
     "Version": "2012-10-17",
     "Statement": [
       {
         "Effect": "Allow",
         "Action": "marketplacecommerceanalytics:GenerateDataSet",
         "Resource": "*"
       }
     ]
   }
   ```
1. Choose **Next**.
**Note**
You can switch between the **Visual** and **JSON** editor options anytime. However, if you make changes or choose **Next** in the **Visual** editor, IAM might restructure your policy to optimize it for the visual editor. For more information, see [Policy restructuring](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/IAM/latest/UserGuide/troubleshoot_policies.html#troubleshoot_viseditor-restructure) in the *IAM User Guide*.
1. On the **Review and create** page, enter a **Policy name** and a **Description** (optional) for the policy that you are creating. Review **Permissions defined in this policy** to see the permissions that are granted by your policy.
1. Choose **Create policy** to save your new policy.
To provide access, add permissions to your users, groups, or roles:
+ Users and groups in AWS IAM Identity Center:
  Create a permission set. Follow the instructions in [Create a permission set](https://docs.aws.amazon.com//singlesignon/latest/userguide/howtocreatepermissionset.html) in the *AWS IAM Identity Center User Guide*.
+ Users managed in IAM through an identity provider:
  Create a role for identity federation. Follow the instructions in [Create a role for a third-party identity provider (federation)](https://docs.aws.amazon.com//IAM/latest/UserGuide/id_roles_create_for-idp.html) in the *IAM User Guide*.
+ IAM users:
  + Create a role that your user can assume. Follow the instructions in [Create a role for an IAM user](https://docs.aws.amazon.com//IAM/latest/UserGuide/id_roles_create_for-user.html) in the *IAM User Guide*.
  + (Not recommended) Attach a policy directly to a user or add a user to a user group. Follow the instructions in [Adding permissions to a user (console)](https://docs.aws.amazon.com//IAM/latest/UserGuide/id_users_change-permissions.html#users_change_permissions-add-console) in the *IAM User Guide*.
# What is the Designated Seller of Record (DSOR) program?
<a name="designated-seller-of-record"></a>
The Designated Seller of Record (DSOR) program enables independent software vendors (ISVs) to authorize AWS partners to create and manage software as a service (SaaS) listings on AWS Marketplace. These authorized partners can act as intermediaries between ISVs and their customers, providing an additional way to bring their software to market and scale their channel business.
**Note**
The DSOR program is invite-only. Partners can reach out to [awsmp-dsor@amazon.com](mailto:awsmp-dsor@amazon.com) to request onboarding.
## Benefits of using DSOR
<a name="benefits-of-dsor"></a>
When ISVs use the DSOR program, they can:
+ Expand their reach through DSOR partner networks.
+ Simplify billing and invoicing through AWS Marketplace Partners.
+ Enter new markets using established channel partners.
+ Maintain their existing contractual requirements.
+ Work directly with DSOR partners to build incremental revenue streams.
## DSOR models
<a name="dsor-models"></a>
The DSOR program offers two models to meet different business needs:
**Channel model**
The channel model lets DSOR partners enable their downstream channel partners to sell on AWS Marketplace with the Channel Partner Private Offer (CPPO) vehicle. This model works well if ISVs have existing channel relationships.
**Note**
DSOR CPPO works like a traditional CPPO from an operational perspective. For more information about CPPO resources, see [Creating private offers as an AWS Marketplace Channel Partner](channel-partner-offers.md).
**Direct model**
The direct model lets DSOR partners create and manage listings on behalf of ISVs. Partners use AWS Marketplace Private Offers to transact directly with AWS customers.
Both DSOR models are designed for ISVs that want to:
+ Include DSOR partners in their AWS Marketplace transactions to scale their channel.
+ Leverage existing distribution operational workflows and processes.
## How DSOR works
<a name="how-dsor-works"></a>
The DSOR process works as follows:
1. ISV authorizes a DSOR partner to manage and create listings (Contract) for them.
1. DSOR partner creates a limited SaaS listing.
1. Customers or Channel Partners see and buy ISV's relisted product on AWS Marketplace.
1. ISV delivers the SaaS product to the customer.
1. AWS Marketplace handles billing, collection, and disbursement.
## Considerations for using DSOR
<a name="considerations-using-dsor"></a>
When ISVs decide to use the DSOR program, they should consider the following:
+ Ensure the DSOR partner understands the ISV's product and pricing strategy.
+ Establish clear communication channels with the DSOR partner for updates and support.
+ Define a clear governance for listing fee coverage, preferred route for private offers and delivery of the SaaS product to the customer.
+ Review and understand the revenue sharing model with the DSOR partner.
+ Be prepared to provide ongoing product updates and support to the DSOR partner.
# Billing Transfer FAQ for AWS Marketplace Sellers
<a name="billing-transfer-faq-for-seller"></a>
Billing transfer allows a management account to designate an external management account to manage and pay for its consolidated bill. This centralizes billing while maintaining security management autonomy. To set up billing transfer, an external account (bill transfer account) sends a billing transfer invitation to a management account (bill source account). If the invitation is accepted, the external account becomes the bill transfer account. The bill transfer account then manages and pays for the bill source account's consolidated bill, starting on the date specified in the invitation.
This FAQ addresses common questions for sellers who list products on AWS Marketplace and have designated an external management account as their bill transfer account.
## I want to use billing transfer to procure AWS services through an AWS Solution Provider or Distributor and I sell products on AWS Marketplace. Will my selling activities be affected?
<a name="billing-transfer-selling-activities-affected"></a>
No. Your AWS Marketplace selling activities remain completely separate from your billing transfer status. Your marketplace listing fees and seller-related charges will continue to be billed directly to you, not transferred to your Channel Partner's bill transfer account.
## Will my AWS Solution Provider or AWS Distributor see my marketplace selling revenue or fees?
<a name="billing-transfer-revenue-visibility"></a>
No. Your channel partner will not have visibility into your marketplace seller fees, taxes withheld, or disbursements.
## How does billing transfer affect my marketplace listing fees?
<a name="billing-transfer-listing-fees"></a>
Your marketplace listing fees are not transferred when using billing transfer. These fees will continue to be invoiced directly to your account.
## Whose tax profile is used for my marketplace selling activities?
<a name="billing-transfer-tax-profile"></a>
Your AWS account's tax profile is always used for marketplace selling activities. Even when using billing transfer, your AWS account remains the seller of record for tax purposes, and all tax calculations use your AWS management account's location and tax profile.
## Where will I receive tax documentation related to my marketplace sales?
<a name="billing-transfer-tax-documentation"></a>
All tax documentation related to your selling activities will continue to be delivered exclusively to your AWS management account.
## If I both sell on AWS Marketplace and use AWS services, how does billing work?
<a name="billing-transfer-mixed-usage"></a>
Your AWS service consumption invoices transfer to the Bill-Transfer account established in billing transfer. Your marketplace selling-related invoices will continue to be delivered to your AWS management account.
## Do I need to take any special action to separate my selling activities from billing transfer?
# Navigating AWS Marketplace Management Portal
<a name="navigating-aws-marketplace-management-portal"></a>
AWS unifies AWS Partner Central and AWS Marketplace Management Portal into a single navigation experience in the AWS Management Console. When you access AWS Marketplace Management Portal at [https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/management/), you are redirected to [https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/partnercentral/](https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/partnercentral/).
The consolidated navigation menu on the left displays all Partner Central and AWS Marketplace functionalities. All users see this unified menu, which includes options for both AWS Marketplace seller features (such as SaaS products, private offers, and agreements) and Partner Central features (such as Opportunities and Leads).
## AWS Marketplace sellers who are not AWS Partners
<a name="ammp-nav-sellers-not-partners"></a>
You may see menu options for Partner Central features that are not yet accessible to you. To access Partner Central features like opportunities and funding requests, complete [Partner Central registration](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/partner-central/latest/getting-started/registering.html).
## AWS Marketplace sellers who are also AWS Partners
<a name="ammp-nav-sellers-and-partners"></a>
In the homepage dashboard, you may see "not registered" as your Partner Account status. Contact your AWS Partner alliance lead to complete [Partner Central migration](https://partnercentral.awspartner.com/partnercentral2/s/partnermigration) and attain the [Partner Central IAM permission policy](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/partner-central/latest/getting-started/managed-policies.html) to access the relevant features. This migration enables full access to all features in the unified experience.
