# Security control for end-of-support operating systems
<a name="ams-eos-sec-controls-os"></a>

Operating systems that are outside of the general support period of the operating system manufacturer's "end-of-support" or EOS, and do not receive security updates, have an increased security risk.

AWS offers some services to help with handling operation system end-of-support. For information about Windows end-of-support, see [ End-of-Support Migration Program for Windows Server](https://aws.amazon.com/emp-windows-server/).
